About Christopher Scott Huffman
Explore the vibrant world of fine art through the portfolio of Christopher Scott Huffman, showcasing vibrant watercolors, drawings, oil paintings, and portraits of people and their pets.

Having practiced art throughout his life, Christopher began drawing (or so he has been told by his mother) when he was 3 1/2 years old. Having no aspirations to be a fireman, an astronaut or a captain of industry, the die was cast when, as a little boy, he discovered the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci and was profoundly captured by the artist's ideal: he thought it amazing and magical that a human being could create things that were so beautiful. Thus began a journey of exploration, fascination and a deepening passion to become an artist wedded to his craft.
Largely self-taught, that is not to say he didn't study: He turned down a scholarship to an art university in favor of creating his own curriculum, based on the atelier methods of Europe--more specifically, the Flemish, Dutch and Venetian methods of painting, learning about grinding pigments, preparing his own painting surfaces and creating a painting from the ground up,
Having been a practicing artist now most of his adult life (hey, doctors practice medicine, so he figures he can practice art), the aim now is to share what he has learned over the course of his journey, teaching others to be more adept in expressing their own artistic aspirations. He taught life drawing and oil painting at Watkins College of Art & Design in Nashville, TN and has also taught various classes both in drawing and in watercolor. He lives in Hermitage, TN
doing this for two years before even picking up a brush. He also studied the works of the Masters themselves, spending time in various museums such as the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., the Frick Collection and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, poring over the paintings of such notable masters as Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Titian, Vermeer and Velazquez.
